If you have not yet paid your ebill, please take the necessary steps to do so by the January 5th deadline.  As a reminder, ebills were sent to your NYU email address ONLY.  You can also access your ebill as follows:

  • Log into NYU Home (home.nyu.edu)
  • Click on the Academics tab, then click on Albert Login
  • Click on the “Student Center”
  • Click on the “View Bursar Account” link located under the Finances menu
  • This should link to the secure eSuite website

Visiting Students: NYU Email ONLY!

After today, December 1, we’ll be emailing all correspondence, including blog updates, to your NYU Email account ONLY. Please make sure you have activated it so you receive important communications such as your ebill and visa instructions!

It’s easy to do: see here for details, including how to set up mail forwarding so messages sent to your NYU Email address also go directly to the email address of your choice.

E-Bills Received

NYU’s Office of the Bursar has now sent out electronic bills (e-bills) to all registered students for the spring semester. As an NYU London student, you should also have your spring London housing placeholder charge posted – all students must pay this amount by the due date. Once the final housing placement has been made, the e-bill will be adjusted, resulting in either a credit or an additional charge. The final charge will appear on your e-bill within 2-3 weeks following the start of the program.

Bills are due by January 5th! If you have not received an e-bill (remember, this is only sent to your NYU email account), you can still access your e-bill as follows:

  • Log into NYU Home (home.nyu.edu)
  • Click on the Academics tab, then click on Albert Login
  • Click on the “Student Center”
  • Click on the “View Bursar Account” link located under the Finances menu
  • This should link to the secure eSuite website

Please note: Students currently living on campus with meal plans will automatically see a charge on your bursar bill for spring 2017. You can have this charge removed by logging in to the meal plan portal with your Net ID and password and cancelling it.

E-Bills Coming Soon & Setting Up Direct Deposit

The NYU Bursar will send bills via email on November 30.  Please keep an eye on your NYU email account for your NYU London bill. You can also log directly into eSuite to view your billing statements.  These will be due in full by January 5.

Visiting students, if financial aid money from your school is going to transfer to NYU and/or your school pays on your behalf, it is okay if these anticipated payments arrive after the bill becomes due. Only the portion of the bill that you are personally responsible for paying directly to NYU must arrive by the due date.

Additionally, if you anticipate receiving any portion of your bill in the form of a refund, we recommend setting up direct deposit with NYU.  Instructions on how to do so can be found on the Bursar’s website here.

Pre-Departure Orientation Recap & Make-Up Quiz

For those who could not attend the in-person orientation, we missed you. There were some great questions and discussions with the Global Peer Mentors.  This interactive session covered everything you need to know as you prepare to study away next semester.

While there is no way to replicate that experience, we are providing this version of the NYU London Pre-Departure Orientation Spring 2017 presentation for those who could not attend. Please ensure to read through the presentation in its entirety and complete this mandatory quiz to test your knowledge and make sure you know the essential information! You would have already received an e-mail from me this week about completing the quiz if you needed to do so.

Some key points to remember from the orientation:

  • Tisch Professional Track Students: Remember that this information mostly applies to you, but check the “What’s Different” document to be sure you know
  • On-site orientation is Mandatory! All students must arrive on January 25, at the NYU London residences ideally between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm
  • Please note that housing is ONLY available during the dates of the program, January 25 – May 19!
  • All class attendance and course related field trips are mandatory.  Do not book personal travel until you have arrived and confirmed your syllabi.
  • Bring all the prescription drugs you will need for your entire stay. Make sure you talk to your doctor about getting a prescription for any medication you take regularly for the full 4 months. Do NOT ship medication overseas.

Complete the Study Away Module

All NYU Study Away participants are required to complete the Study Away Module.

It contains information about important requirements, resources and offices you need to be aware of as you prepare to study away. It covers logistical information that is consistent across NYU study away sites so that we are able to focus on NYU London-specific information during the in-person pre-departure orientation.

The module consists of a webinar, a short questionnaire and travel release confirmation. It should only take you about 5-6 minutes to complete from start to finish. When you are ready to begin the module you can access it by clicking on the link below.

Please note that it is mandatory to complete the Study Away Module for all students. Remember that students currently in New York must also attend the in-person orientation.

Visiting Students: Set up NYU Email

Visiting students, if you have confirmed your place in the program, you are now eligible to activate your NYU email.  You should do so ASAP!

Activating your account will give you access to your NYU email, and, beginning October 25, will allow you to use the shopping cart functionality in Albert to prepare for course registration. Any student who confirms after that date will have access to the shopping cart within 24-48 hours.

It’s important that you activate your NYU email account ASAP so that you can move forward with your study away plans. Additionally, using your NYU email is vital since we will begin sending the blog updates and other communications to this email only (don’t worry — we’ll give you a heads up before we do that). NYU’s Bursar’s Office will also send your eBill just to your NYU address at the end of November, and you don’t want to miss that!

If you have not activated your NYU netID yet (you were prompted to during the application process to be able to check if materials were received), you must first do this:

  • Activate your NYU NetID and create your password. Your NetID can be found in your original acceptance email (from global.admissions@nyu.edu), and is usually a combination of your initials and a few random numbers (for example: abc123).  To activate your NetID and set your password, go to the NYU Information Technology Services (ITS) “Start” page (http://start.nyu.edu).  Enter your NetID, click on the “Start” button and follow the online instructions.  To complete the process, you will also need your date of birth and the University ID number (also known as your N-number) assigned to you.  You N number can also be found in your acceptance email; it is the number that starts with an N at the top of the email (for example N12345678).

If you forgot your netID or N number and cannot locate the email that was sent to you with that information, please email me and I will help you. Please look for your admission email first.

To then activate your email simply:

  • Return to start.nyu.edu and enter your netID
  • On the next page, enter your NYUHome password.
  • On the next page, click on the “Activate NYU Google Account” option.
  • Presto, your NYU email account is created!

You can also set up mail forwarding. After signing into NYUHome, click on “Preferences” on the top of the page, then find the “Mail Forwarding” option under “Your Email”, and click “Edit”. From there, click on “Add a Forwarding Address” and enter the email where you would like the NYU email correspondence to forward.

NYU Study Away Funding Session

Did you know that studying abroad doesn’t necessarily cost more than studying in New York? The cost of housing, meals, and daily living abroad is comparable and in some cases less expensive than New York City. Remember that cost of living varies by student and by city! When preparing to go abroad, it’s important to think about what the actual costs are as well as how and when they need to be paid.

Every Friday throughout the semester, the Office of Global Programs hosts a Study Away Funding session to provide you with information about all the various ways to fund your semester abroad. Attend one of these info sessions to learn more about Global Programs Scholarships eligibility and application process as well as additional resources and tips.

Reserve Your Spot in the Program

Don’t forget to confirm your place in the program!  In order to confirm your intention to enroll, you must accept your offer of admissions by submitting a $500 non-refundable, non-transferable reservation fee.

Instructions are below – reservation fees are encouraged before October 24.

**Please understand that it is receipt of your $500 reservation fee payment or the approval of your deferment request form that secures your place in the program. Enrollment capacity is limited and if the program reaches capacity before we receive your reservation, you will be placed on a wait list. **

If you previously logged into NYU Home and were unable to accept the offer, please clear your browser history/cache – this will delete the information your computer stored about your previous NYUHome session – before attempting to log in again.

You can accept or decline your offer in three ways:

  1. Accept or Decline Your Offer Online (preferred):
    • Log on to your NYUHome account
    • Select the “Academics” Tab
    • Click on the “Albert” button
    • Within Albert, Select the “Applicants” tab at the top left of the page
    • Select the “Application Status” link
    • Click on the purple “Admission Offer” button next to your study away application
    • Follow all of the prompts to accept or decline your offer of admission

    Note: If you accept our offer, please be prepared to pay the reservation fee by e-check. After you make your final decision, the “Admission Offer” button will no longer appear.


    2. Submit Your Payment by Mail or In-Person (only if you are unable to accept online)
    : Please mail or hand-deliver a completed confirmation form and a check or money order payable to “New York University” with your name and University ID written in the memo section, to NYU Office of Global Programs, 383 Lafayette St, 4th Floor, New York NY 10003.

    Note: Please do not send cash. The check or money order must be in US funds only and include your University ID number. Once we receive and process your reservation fee, the “Admission Offer” button will no longer be available to you through Albert.


    3. Request Study Away Confirmation Fee Deferment (NYU Students only)
    : Students with demonstrated financial need are encouraged to submit our fee deferment form to be formally reviewed for deferment eligibility. Please log into the form using your NYU email address.

    Though we would like to accommodate each and every student that has expressed a financial need, a formal threshold is imperative. This threshold is as follows: if a student’s financial aid package consists of any form of loans, grants, or scholarships – we will waive the enrollment fee in the order it is received via this formal deferment form. Students who submit this form and qualify for fee deferment will be automatically confirmed to enroll.
